James Cameron (he / him)
Student Social Service Worker
About James
James Cameron is completing the Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma program at Loyalist College and provides supervised case management and social service support through Bridging With Support.
James’s role focuses on helping individuals identify their needs, understand and access available resources, navigate service systems, and develop practical plans toward their goals. His work may include resource navigation, referrals, service coordination, advocacy, goal setting, follow-up, and connecting individuals with appropriate community and professional supports.
James brings previous experience in patient coordination, community support, crisis support, resource navigation, advocacy, and LGBTQ+ community programming. He approaches his work with an emphasis on empathy, respect, self-determination, curiosity, and trauma-informed practice.
As a Social Service Worker student, James works within the scope of his education, training, and demonstrated competence and receives ongoing supervision and direction as part of his placement. Case management services provided by James are not psychotherapy or counselling services. Where an individual's needs extend beyond the scope of his role, James will work with the individual and supervising professionals to identify appropriate resources, referrals, or additional supports.
James is particularly interested in supporting individuals who experience barriers to accessing services and resources, including those navigating complex systems, socioeconomic challenges, identity-related concerns, and other circumstances that may affect access to appropriate support.
